What is Yaki?

Posted by

Have you shopped our hair extensions and noticed the name Yaki in the texture options? Did you say to yourself, what the heck is Yaki? You are not the only one! In fact, we are frequently asked what it is and what makes it different from our other hair extension textures. So for our first blog post we felt it would be fitting to address this curious topic- What is Yaki?

First, let us set things straight- it does not come from the Yak. It is most definitely 100% human Indian Remi hair that is cuticle correct. Second, we typically describe our Yaki texture as ‘closely resembling relaxed Afro-Caribbean hair’. But it is so much more than that!

Natural Wave VS Yaki Texture

Natural Wave                                                                                                                    Yaki

Our Yaki is: Silky. Smooth. Straight. Thick. Textured.

At first glance, you may notice how luxurious the Yaki looks. Its slight gloss is natural, leaving it silky smooth to the touch. The 100% real human hair used for these extensions is very straight, unlike our other hair extensions that have waves to them; though, the Yaki does curl well. Additionally, the hair of these extensions is slightly courser which offers a thicker, slightly textured appeal. This type of hair extension is ideal for someone with slightly course, naturally thick hair or relaxed African or ethnic hair as they will blend well and offer a matched thickness from root to end.

Our Yaki hair extensions come pre-taped and apply the same way as our other hair extensions. Caring for them is the same as well, though we highly recommend incorporating a leave-in conditioning treatment to help moisturize the ends of the hair– the natural & the hair extensions. All of our Yaki hair extensions are 20 inches in length and are available in colors 1 thru 8 as well as all pack sizes. We take pride in offering products that suite a variety of needs and hope this blog provides more insight into the subtle differences of our hair extensions and how it may apply to you or your client.

Happy Hairstyling!
