FAQ

Frequently Asked questions (FAQ)

Hair Extensions

Q:  What is Remy hair?

Remy hair is hair that has been collected by a hair donor. The cuticles are not stripped and remain aligned in one direction. Most human hair sold in the hair extensions industry undergoes a cuticle-stripping process called an acid-bath. Then, a silicone is placed over the cuticles to give the hair a faux shine and smooth appearance. This silicone wears off when the hair is washed, therefore, the cuticles are disturbed and return back to their unruly state, causing the hair to mat and tangle easily.

Remy hair does not mat or tangle because all the cuticles are aligned and intact without the use of silicone.

Q:  Do you have Yaki Hair?

  • Yes, we offer Yaki hair. Yaki hair refers to the texture resembling relaxed Afro-Caribbean hair. Please call us to order this texture: 623.374.2874

Q:  How much hair do I need to do a full head?

Here are a few things to condsider:

  • First, are you adding thickness or length, or both?
  • Is the natural hair thick or thin?
  • How is the customer going to style their hair?

For thickness and length, we recommend 1 & ½ to 2 packs. The determining factor is how thick and the beginning length of the natural hair. If you are still not sure, just give us a call!

Q:How do you care for the hair extensions?

Q:  What kind of shampoo and conditioner should I recommend to my client?

  • We only recommend a professional non-sulfate shampoo such as Pureology Nano Works Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner.
  • You may also want to use a leave- in spray conditioner. We recommend Pureology Colour Fanatic 21 Essential Benefits spray.

Q:  Are the hair extensions reusable?

  • Yes, they are reusable up to 3 applications with proper care.
  • We recommend using a chelating shampoo on the natural hair to clarify before reapplying the hair extensions.  Do not use chelating shampoo on the extensions. Do not use conditioner on the natural hair if you are going to reapply the extensions.
  • Make sure all the tape is completely off the extension tabs before reapplying.

Q:  How do I make each application last longer?

  • We do not advise using any type of alcohol or oil pased products at the scalp. This can cause slippage and make the extensions fall out. If you aren't sure check the ingredients list, or give us a call and we can help you pick the right products.
  • Do not apply conditioner before applying our Tape-in extensions. Reguardless of the time lapsed between conditioning, the conditioner is still in the hair and can cause slippage

Q:  Can I color/perm/chemically straighten the hair extensions?

  • No, we do not recommend any chemicals to be used on the hair extensions. Remember, the hair has already been processed to create the colors we offer. Additionally, once the hair extensions have been tampered with, we are no longer liable for any damage to the hair extensions and cannot guarantee the life and quality of the hair extensions.
  • We recommend removing the extensions before any chemical is applied to the natural hair to protect the hair extensions. This is especially important if you are coloring the entire length of natural hair.

Q:  My client’s hair is highlighted. How do I get that effect with the extensions?

  • We suggest purchasing two different extension colors to achieve this look. When you create the extension “sandwich”, one color will go on top and the other color on bottom.

Q:  My hair is tangling a lot, how can I prevent that?

Although not typical, here are some tips to help prevent any tangling:

  • Only use products approved by your hair stylist.
  • Brush and braid your hair before sleeping.
  • Never go to bed with wet hair.
  • Gently shampoo the hair; never rough the cuticle.
  • Try using a light leave-in spray conditioner after washing and also a heat protectant before styling with hot tools.

Flare Addictionz – Eyelash Extensions

Q:  Can you curl these lashes?

  • It is not recommended to curl the eyelash extensions as they already have a natural curl to them.

Q:  Can I treat these as if they were my own lashes?

  • No, you have to be careful with your new lashes. You must not rub your eyes at all!  Try not to play with your lashes.

Q:  Can I wash my face?

  • Yes, you can wash your face BUT use a Q-Tip around eyes. Remember the less you do to your eyes the longer they will last.

Q:  How long will eyelash extensions last on my eyes?

  • Everyone is different. Depending on how much you touch your eyes, the average wear time is 1 - 3 weeks.  When you first get your lashes you will have to get use to them and they will probably last around 1 week but as you get use to them they will last longer.
  • Remember your natural eyelashes shed.  As your natural lash falls out you will lose the eyelash extensions.  Be sure your clients know they will need fill-ins.
  • If the natural lashes a very sparse the customer needs to be extra careful.

Q:  Can I use mascara?

  • You can use mascara but it is not necessary. Lashes will be long and thick already and, again, the less you do to them the better.  You may use mascara on the lower lashes.
  • If you choose to use mascara do not use water proof mascara, as this mascara may be made with tar in it and can affect the eyelash adhesive.

Q:  Can I use makeup remover on my eyelashes?

  • We do not recommend using any remover while wearing the lashes. If you have to then we recommend a water-based remover and do not rub the eyes when removing.  Lay cotton pad on let set a few seconds then gently swipe down in a very gentle stroke. NO oil-based remover, it will affect the lash adhesive.

Q:  Can I get my lashes wet?

  • Yes, but do not rub eyes with a towel, just lightly blot dry. Do not go in any sauna or hot steam for 24 hours and sleep on your back for the first day or two. This will allow the lash glue to fully set. After that try to avoid as much as possible water on the eyelashes.

Q:  I have never applied eyelash extensions, is there a class I can take?

  • Watch our instructional video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR92gvY6Seg
